Carl Loutan lives in Lafayette, Indiana. Teaches cinema studies and western humanities at West Purdue. After writing three nonfiction books about the history of cinema and the influence of Renaissance artists on German expressionist filmmaking, Loutan turned to novel-writing (among other disciplines). His first novel, the bittersweet Memories of Shoes, won him a Glenboro Award for Fiction in 2005. His second novel, Wasteland, will arrive in stores in August of 2007.
